What an absolutely top class specialist and human being. I was seen by Dr Al-Shakarchi in 2014 at King's. She remains the ONLY Rheumy who actually asked loads of questions, listened, and tried to figure out what was causing my pain. She was curious, compassionate, kind and humourous - something I did not expect given the long assembly line of patients she was seeing. After she left King's my treatment dwindled to a full stop. You're a blessing. Long live your tribe!

An amazing person, I can't speak highly enough of her. If all consultants were as dedicated (and kind and funny) as Dr Al Shakarchi people would be falling over themselves to get ill.

I can honestly say that Dr Al-Shakarchi is amazing. She is empathetic yet very no-nonsense, extremely efficient and a delight to talk to. The NHS is lucky to have her, she's credit to her profession.

Wonderful experience and wonderful doctor! Doctor Al-Shakarchi took the time to fully explain my condition and treatments options (in plain English!). I felt very reassured by her obviously deep knowledge and expertise. She spoke to me as a real person and more importantly she listened. I did not feel as though I was just a number on an assembly line to be pushed out the door soonest possible. In all my 42 years, I've never had such a positive experience visiting a doctor. She embodies exactly what being a doctor should be about. Marvelous!

My last visit to rheumatology at Kingston Hospital was the first time seeing Dr Al-Shakarchi. I was so impressed with the consultation. Not only was Dr Al-Shakarchi working through her lunch break, but she was so thorough and patient and gave an excellent examination with good advice on how to keep my lupus under control. The consultation wasn't at all rushed as I have experienced with another doctor and as a patient, I would highly recommend her.
